last day of the sprint
this morning the heat has broken with a bit of a thunder storm - cooling welcome rain, but it hasn't lasted long & i suspect the afternoon will be hot again. it's the last day of the sprint. for some reason i woke up at 7.30am, ridiculously early as we didn't go to bed until nearly 2am, but i was wide awake so enjoyed a couple of hours of quiet before everyone else awoke, drinking coffee & answering emails. yesterday agnez & i got up early & did yoga on the terrace, but the rain prevented that today.
we have the test site up & others are looking at it; we've solved a lot of problems but there are still a number of things not working. i have learned heaps about drupal in the last 4 days, particularly about organic groups, roles, permissions, & views. altogether it is potentially incredibly flexible & powerful, however it takes time to work out how things need to be done, & sometimes it is a confusing & circular process. the wrong setting in one place can stop something in a completely different place from working. however the combination of skills & experience between the 5 of us doing this sprint is very complemnentary - usually one of us has at least an idea about how to do things - & a couple of times we've been able to draw on external expertise via IRC or email.
today agnez is finishing the theme while aileen & i are trying to work out why our groups are no longer displaying in the og_my view, & how to make the roles of group members visible. donna has given up trying to use mailhandler & listhandler to integrate our mailman lists with drupal - for the time being we'll stick to the old system - & amaia has been working on a way to create a programme for each event. the idea that each /etc event could be created as an organic group, with the organisers having control over content & members within that group, seems to be working almost how we want it.
since we are nearing the end of the long road of the sprint, a barbecue is planned for this evening; inma said she would NOT make sangria, because every time she makes sangria for a barbecue, it rains. i guess someone else nearby must have made the sangria ...
